Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)
I recently learned about ashwagandha. I read it was good for stress and anxiety. Being diagnosed with Social Anxiety and Generalized Anxiety, I was prescribed Klonopin, a benzodiazepine. I would take both doses at night to help me sleep but it didn’t seem like it was helping me during the day, even though it stays in your system for a few days. I also have a needle phobia. Three weeks of taking this ashwagandha and I didn’t cry at the doctor’s office when they drew blood for lab work. I always cry! My whole life! Having blood drawn was torture for me! I also didn’t cry when I got stuck with a flu shot right after having blood drawn! I had even warned the nurses ahead of time that I would cry and they shouldn’t worry, and not to make a big deal about it. Imagine my shock when I didn’t cry at all?! The nurses were very pleased with themselves, thinking it was their skill that kept me from crying, but it was the ashwagandha, I am convinced! After that experience I had the confidence to order a blood draw through LabCorp for a test my insurance won’t cover. I would NEVER have done that before! I just can’t say enough about this stuff! Btw, I take 1/2 tsp in lemon tea twice a day. It’s goes down quite easily. Thank you, New Naturals!
